Our Guide To The Best Accomodation In Hobart.
Hotels in Hobart Tasmania have yet to impress us as much as the luxury accomodation options on offer provided by hosts that love Hobart, spoil their guests and always provide a truely extraordinary experiences down to every detail. Here's our guide to accomodation options in the heart of Hobart we love and stay at ourselves regularly!
City Centre & Hobart CBD - Seaview on Glebe
A rare slice of perfection nestled in Glebe, a tiny much sought after hamlet in Hobart CBD full of Federation Architectural gems, recording a population of just 500! You’ll be adjacent to The Royal Botanical Gardens, which is free to visit and the perfect place for some downtime between your Hobart itinerary. Hobart Airbnb, Seaview was your lovely host's Godfather's house, which she now cares for and shares with such care. Priced at the same rate as a CBD hotel room, with room for 6 — Seaview is our pick for your top Hobart CBD accommodation.
Sandy Bay & South Hobart - Esmond
The Esmond - Architecturally designed by Victorian born architect, Esmond Dorney is a Hobart must when it comes to the best stays on offer. Not is it the perfect place to explore Hobart nestled on the River Derwent, every detail has been thought out with you in mind. I recently checked in for a week-long stay-cation and refused to leave. This stunning mid century modern gem is a one of those rare stays that feels like such a gift to be able to experience. And, as a bonus, it’s as perfect for 2 as it is up to 7!
North Hobart - Little Arthur
My very favorite cozy cottage stay in Central Hobart. So much so I’ve even asked it’s dear host and owner Laura if I can buy it from her. The answer is sadly no, it is loved so much - and when you check in you will see why, it’s perfect in every single way. Nestled into the quaint quiet streets a second away from buzzing North Hobart, a short stroll to everything including the Hobart CBD, this little workmans cottage will have you finding it hard to leave it’s loving embrace. As a bonus, you have a wood burning fireplace, stocked with supplies (so rare in the CBD!) as well as off street parking for all your Hobart day trips and adventures. I love Little Arthur (can I keep her, pleeeeeassse!).
Sandy Bay — Braithwaite Hobart
A Hobart heritage accommodation favorite (of mine and everyone who is lucky enough to stay!), Braithwaite Hobart was built in the late 1880’s as a bakery by Charles Braithwaite (hence the name!). Host Alix is not only a Hobart local but also quite the connoisseur of Hobart Dining, as well as a perfect source for recommendations for the very best Hobart Day trips and the very best to pop on your itinerary for your time here. You’ll be not only staying in one of the finest self contained accommodation options Hobart has to offer (with a private courtyard and outside bathtub mind!), but you’ll be well equipped with her recommendations on the very best. It’s a stylish and sophisticated retreat, designed together with JAWS Architects (who also designed Pumphouse Point). If you need any more convincing that this is your perfect Hobart stay, you can also book direct and save on those pesky Airbnb fees.
West Hobart Views & Nature - Glass Holme
One of the newest, but certainly a gem of the accommodation options you have on offer here in Hobart. This modern, architecturally designed perch hosted by the absolutely lovely Tasmanian local Abigail, cuddled by a natural reserve complete with all its cute visiting animals is seconds away from it all and you’re going to find it hard to leave! Floor to ceiling windows over two stories, photos just cannot do justice to the incredible stay you’ll have at Glass Holme here in Hobart.
Battery Point & South Hobart - The Loft at Soho.
We think The Loft is truely hobarts best keep accomodation secret. Hidden from the busy streets, with 2 stories all of your own, including a private garden couryard oasis and incredible views of kunanyi / Mt Wellington. A short walk though the most beautiful river path at the end of the street to everything we love about Hobart. From the Salamanca Markets, The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, weekend food markets and of course to board the Mona Roma for your day out at MONA!
A Wildcard Option! - Tinderbox Beach House
I love myself a wildcard, I think maybe I’ve watched a little too much Escape To The Country UK, where the wildcard always seems to be my pick! Tinderbox beach house is only 30 minutes to Hobart, and nestled with a handful of other shacks on one of the most beautiful beaches in Tasmania, Tinderbox Beach - a protected Marine Park that is a breeding ground for seahorses and sea stars (bring your bathers and goggles!). Your host Julie is a beautiful soul, she spent her childhood in this much loved Tassie Shack which still remains in her family. It’s a perfect base for your Hobart Stay, while enjoying the beauty that is on offer. I check in here often for staycations, it’s just such a rare and special stay. Julie also is happy to host elopements and has a larger space you can use to host a workshop or event as well, just ask!
